2026 Election: Measure K would make Orange a charter city

Should Orange adopt its own charter? The question is going to Orange voters.

Orange is currently a general law city bound by state mandates. Measure K, which the City Council placed on the ballot, would establish Orange as a charter city.

Switching to a charter city, essentially a city with its own constitution, could give Orange more “home rule” authority over local affairs such as contracting, local elections, term limits and wages on public works projects, city officials have said.

The proposed charter is included with the measure on the ballot.

Measure K would require a simple majority of the vote in support to pass.
