
Two women were taken to hospitals after getting rescued from a rip current off the shore of Laguna Beach over the weekend, authorities said.
Laguna Beach Marine Safety personnel responded after three women were reportedly caught in a rip current between Aliso Beach and Treasure Island Beach just before 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, officials said in a statement.
When lifeguards got to the women, they found one had lost consciousness, officials said. After getting them back to shore, two were taken to hospitals.
A 50-year-old woman was airlifted to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, while a 49-year-old woman was taken by ambulance to Mission Hospital in Laguna Beach, officials said.
“Both are expected to make a full recovery,” the department said.
Further information about any treatment provided to the third woman was not disclosed.
