D4vd was separated from other inmates at the Los Angeles County Men’s Central Jail after he was formally charged with killing 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

The singer, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was placed in segregation upon his arrival at the facility because of his celebrity status, according to TMZ. He landed at the jail on Monday around 10 p.m. following an initial court appearance earlier in the day.

D4vd pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, lewd and lascivious acts with a person under 14 and mutilating a body in connection with Rivas Hernandez’s death. He was taken into custody on Thursday, months after the teen’s dismembered and severely decomposed remains were found in the trunk of his Tesla.

Following his arrest, D4vd was held without bail at the LAPD 77th Street Station Jail.

Hernandez Rivas, a runaway from Riverside County, had been reported missing in April 2024 from her family’s home in Lake Elsinore, Calif. She lived some 76 miles away from where her body was found. D4vd’s debut album, “Withered,” was released just two days after authorities said she was last known to be alive. She was just 13 years old at the time.

Authorities suspect D4vd killed Hernandez Rivas in a bid to protect his career, seemingly after she threatened to reveal their sexual history.

According to a criminal complaint in the case, D4vd sexually abused the teen for a period starting “on or between” September 7, 2023, and September 7, 2024, “while the defendant resided with, and had recurring access to, the child.”

Hernandez Rivas was last known to be alive on April 23, 2025 when she was seen arriving at D4vd’s home in Hollywood Hills, police said.

The “Romantic Homicide” singer has maintained his innocence and his lawyers have vowed to fight the charges against him.
