Dallas police arrested a 25-year-old woman at Dallas Love Field after her three suitcases were found with 75 pounds of marijuana in them, according to a statement released Friday.
Officers were alerted by an airline partner that a suitcase onboard a flight from Las Vegas into Love Field had split open and revealed a substantial amount of marijuana inside.
Narcotics detectives responded and found two additional suitcases carrying marijuana in vacuum sealed pouches, the statement said. The three suitcases totaled 75 pounds of the drug.
Police identified the woman who owned the suitcases, and she was arrested before she left the airport.
“Our public safety mission includes protecting Dallas from being used as a drug transportation hub, and the Narcotics Unit maintains a presence at Dallas Love Field to detect and intervene when illegal drugs are moving through the airport,” the statement said.
The woman faces a charge of possession of marijuana between 50 and 2,000 pounds, a second-degree felony, the statement said. As of Saturday morning, the 25-year-old did not show up in the Dallas County jail records.
No further information on the investigation was immediately available.
