A married restauranteur couple found dead in a murder-suicide along with their two children in Texas earlier this week were previously featured on Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives” with Guy Fieri.

Officers with the Houston Police Department were performing a welfare check when they discovered the bodies of Thy Mitchell, her husband Matthew Mitchell, and their two children inside a home in River Oaks on Monday evening, police said in a press release. They responded to the residence around 5 p.m., after they learned no one had heard from them since the night prior.

All four family members suffered from fatal gunshot wounds, according to authorities.

Following an investigation, police determined that Matthew Mitchell likely shot his 39-year-old wife, then their children — identified only as an 8-year-old girl and 4-year-old boy — before turning the weapon on himself. He was 32 years old.

Matthew and Thy Mitchell together ran two popular eateries in the Houston area, including the Traveler’s Table and Traveler’s Cart, where they served “globally curated cuisine” inspired by their family’s travels around the world, the Houston Chronicle reported. Their deaths also come just one year after the Houston Chapter of the Texas Restaurant Association named them the 2025 Restaurateurs of the Year.

The Traveler’s Table was also featured on the “mouthwatering meat” episode of “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” during its 34th season. In a clip shared to Facebook, the show’s Emmy-winning host, Guy Fieri, can be seen walking into the restaurant. The couple also posed for photos with Fieri, later sharing them on social media.

An investigation into their deaths is ongoing. Police have said there are no prior records of domestic violence calls to the couple’s residence.
