Dallas Area Rapid Transit officials confirmed their officers were involved in a shooting Sunday at a station in Oak Lawn, but they have not released any further information about the incident.

DART police were part of a shooting at 5:30 p.m. at Victory Station at 2525 Victory Ave., DART spokesperson Erin Myers said in a statement.

No officers or bystanders were injured during the shooting, Myers said.

Contacted twice via email by The Dallas Morning News, DART declined to provide details about why officers discharged their weapons or if a suspect was arrested or injured. The News has filed a request with DART for reports related to the incident.

Since last year, several DART member cities have considered leaving the agency. Highland Park, Addison and University Park all moved forward with votes to rid themselves of DART, citing concerns about costs and the value of the services they receive. As of May, only Highland Park chose to leave.

Public safety concern over using DART shifted last year after a string of killings. From January to November 2025, four homicides happened on DART property. A fifth killing, the fatal shooting of 28-year-old Erin Graham, happened in December.

In an article published in January by The News, Charles Cato, DART chief of police and emergency management, emphasized the transit system has prioritized rider safety by recognizing environmental elements that might heighten crime on DART property.

“The homicides that have happened are tragic, and one is too many, but they’re not indicative of the work that goes on here,” Cato said during the interview. “Our riders deserve a safe system to ride, and we’re doing everything in our authority to make sure that happens every day.”

Riders can download the DART Say Something Safety and Security App, which can be used to report concerns directly to DART Police, Cato said. Riders can use the app to send photos, six-second videos, descriptions and locations of potential crimes.
