Braxton Keith is a country artist, not a comic — but he’s a lot funnier than your average honky-tonk Romeo.

On May 15, the Midland, Texas singer-songwriter released Real Damn Deal, his promising debut for Warner Bros. Nashville. The title track is a tongue-in-cheek send-up of country authenticity. Even wittier is “I Own This Bar,” where a meet-cute dissolves into two drunks trying to out-B.S. each other.

Sartorially, Keith leans into old-school Western flair — lately, he’s been sporting a waxed mustache that’s halfway between Buffalo Bill Cody and Rollie Fingers. Musically, his influences range from ‘80s-‘90s country all the way back to the 1930s: The Western swing of “I Ain’t Tryin’” tips its hat to Bob Wills, whose Ranch House — now the Longhorn Ballroom — is just a two-step away from the Longhorn Backyard Amphitheater, where Keith will headline his biggest D-FW concert to date.

With opening acts Chandler Pearson and Caden Gillard, 7:30 p.m., May 30, Longhorn Backyard Amphitheater, 216 Corinth St., Dallas, $50 and up. axs.com
