
A 50-year-old woman was fatally stabbed Saturday night in Mansfield after an argument escalated to a physical fight, according to a Sunday statement from police.
Officers responded to a disturbance call about 10:51 p.m. at a home in the 200 block of Morgan Road.
Once there, police were told multiple people were fighting behind the home before they headed around the back.
Police found the woman suffering from multiple stab wounds and a 43-year-old woman who sustained minor injuries. According to the statement, officers also found a 43-year-old man with no visible injuries.
Officers secured all three people before providing medical aid to the stabbing victim. Mansfield Fire Department transported both women to Methodist Mansfield Hospital, where the woman died at 11:55 p.m., according to the statement.
Investigators conducted interviews with the two other individuals and collected evidence before determining the stabbing began as a verbal altercation before escalating into a physical fight between the two women. During the fight, the 43-year-old woman drew a knife.
Police did not immediately say what role the man played in the fight.
The woman was arrested and faces a murder charge, the statement said. After she was released from the hospital, she was transported to the Mansfield Police Department jail.
