Lawyers for Sabrina Carpenter have filed for a restraining order against a man accused of trying to enter the “Please Please Please” singer’s Los Angeles home, then returning after being arrested.

Legal documents obtained by TMZ identify the alleged unwelcome visitor as 31-year-old William Applegate, whom Carpenter said she doesn’t know.

He’s accused of showing up outside her door on May 23 in a “deliberate, calculated and aggressive” fashion she found disturbing. Applegate is said to have tried opening the door and ringing a doorbell that videotaped the suspect’s activity. Applegate is accused of defying her security team’s demands to leave the property before police arrived.

He returned the next day and was again greeted by police officers, court papers reporterly show.

“William Applegate is a complete stranger to me,” she wrote to a Southern California court that granted a temporary restraining order. “I have never met him or communicated with him in any way. I have no desire to meet him or communicate with him.”

She hoped to get a permanent order of protection in the coming weeks. Applegate has also reportedly been instructed to stay clear of the 27-year-old Grammy Award winner‘s sister, Sarah, and her sister’s boyfriend.

Carpenter dated Irish actor and former boxer Barry Keoghan for about a year before the pair split in early 2024, according to Harper’s Bazaar. She’s also been linked to singer Shawn Mendes and Emmy Award winner Joshua Bassett.
