Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that left a man dead early Monday morning in southwest Dallas.

​Dallas police officers responded to a shooting call at approximately 5:40 a.m. in the 7500 block of Chesterfield Drive, near the Red Bird neighborhood. 

Upon arrival, officers discovered a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

​Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel responded to the scene, where the victim was pronounced dead.

​The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office is assisting with the investigation and will determine the man’s identity.
