A woman, 25, was raped and beaten outside a Queens cemetery in an attack that lasted for hours, and a 31-year-old man has been charged in the assault, cops said Friday.
The victim was walking to work near Union Field Cemetery, on Cyprus Ave. near Vermont Place, when the suspect approached her around 9 p.m. on May 30, according to law enforcement.
The man threatened the woman into compliance before sexually assaulting and raping her, police said.
The suspect beat the victim during the encounter, punching and kicking her, cops said.
When questioned by officers, the woman could not say with certainty how long the attack lasted, but a law enforcement source said the suspect was held her against her will for hours.
The victim was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where she was treated for injuries consistent with sexual assault.
Oscar Vallejo, 31, was arrested Thursday and charged with rape, kidnapping, sex abuse and assault, cops said.
A source described Vallejo as a “sex abuse recidivist,” with six arrests on record, including multiple prior charges of attempted rape, sexual abuse and forcible touching.
On July 7, 2023, he was arrested for attacking a 21-year-old woman in Brooklyn near Broadway and Thomas S Boyland St. — just over a mile away from the cemetery where last month’s rape occurred.
Vallejo followed this victim on his scooter through Bushwick before threatening her and attempting to remove her skirt, cops said.
The woman managed to break away from him and fled. Vallejo was arrested later that day and charged with attempted rape, unlawful imprisonment and sexual abuse.
Police released Vallejo’s mugshot on Friday in hopes that any other victims who may have been sexually assaulted by the suspect will come come forward.
