Former BET “Rap City” host Big Tigger was arrested in Georgia for aggravated battery and child cruelty.
The on air personality born Darian Morgan was reportedly taken into custody Saturday by the Sandy Springs Police Department. Inmate intake records show he booked into the Fulton County Jail.
Morgan was involved in a May 9 domestic dispute with his wife Alicia Brown involving text messages on his phone, according to Atlanta station WXIA-TV.
He allegedly called her “psycho” while recording their dispute, prompting Brown to grab his phone. Morgan then tackled his wife causing her hip to bruise, according to an affidavit obtained by local media.
Brown responded, “I will show you psycho,” and began unplugging a computer the couple shared.
He allegedly grabbed his wife’s arms, prompting her to demand that she be released. Morgan is accused of then shoving his wife into a door, which caused a facial wound near her left eye.
Police say the Bronx native took his wife to an urgent care to be treated for her injury. Brown told cops she was afraid to report the incident when it occurred.
Their teenage son was said to have been present during the dispute.
Morgan hosts a morning show on radio station V-103, where he addressed the altercation on June 12.
“I want to say categorically that these allegations and accusations that have been circulating are false,” he insisted.
He also claimed the text messages at the heart of the dispute were innocent communications between himself and a coworker who’s “never been anything more” than a friend and a colleague.
Authorities haven’t responded to a request for comment. Morgan was reportedly released from jail on $10,000 bond on the day he was apprehended.
In addition to his radio gig, he works with the Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta Falcons on game days.
