Officers were called about 1 a.m. to the 1100 block of Colvin Avenue after a report of a possible shooting, according to Fort Worth police. When officers arrived, they found a person with several stab wounds. Police said the person had not been shot.
Fort Worth Fire Department personnel treated the person, who was taken to a hospital.
Officers were given a description of a possible suspect and his vehicle, police said. A short time later, officers found the vehicle and arrested a 54-year-old man on a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.
Police said they were notified about 11 a.m. that the person stabbed had died. The charge against the man was then upgraded to murder.
Witnesses told investigators there had been a disturbance at the residence when the stabbing occurred and that the suspect fled afterward, police said.
