A 46-year-old man died after a man in a blue raincoat approached him on a Bronx street corner, pistol-whipped him, and then shot him point-blank in the forehead without saying a word, police and witnesses said on Monday night.

The victim was standing with a group of men outside of a liquor store on White Plains Road near Archer St. in Parkchester when the assailant hit him in the side of the head with a gun and then shot him in the forehead around 8:12 p.m., cops said.

Medics rushed the victim to Jacobi Medical Center, where he died.

The assailant fled down White Plains Road and is still being sought, according to cops.

“He was in a long blue raincoat, and he slowly walked up to him,” a witness said. “He pistol-whipped him and shot him in the head. He just dropped. That’s his Yankees cap right there, near the pool of blood,” said the witness, who did not give his name.

A giant pool of blood could be seen on the ground.

After shooting the victim, the assailant turned and walked casually back the way he came, on White Plains Road, the witness said.

Police are investigating the incident.

The victim’s identity was not immediately released while detectives notify his family.
