Actor Courtney Stodden recalled an incident involving “Seinfeld” star Jason Alexander that made her feel uncomfortable when she was a teenager.
A post on Stodden’s Instagram includes an image of the 31-year-old show business personality doing a “Funny or Die”-produced comedy sketch along with her memory of that routine, which was filmed when she was 17 years old.
“The older I get, the more impossible this is to understand,” Stodden wrote. “During this comedy sketch, Jason Alexander repeatedly rubbed his phone across my breasts while saying there was ‘no signal’ in my head but ‘plenty of signal’ in my chest.’”
She also lamented that in her bit with Alexander, who’s 35 years Stodden’s senior, he joked about wanting to have sex with her.
That 2014 comedic short film titled “The Donny Clay Show with Courtney Stodden” was co-written by Alexander and also starred Stodden’s ex-husband Doug Hutchinson, according to IMDb.
Buzzfeed reported that Stodden married Hutchinson in 2011 when he was 53 and she was 16. They divorced in 2020. She later expressed regret about the relationship. She also has bad memories of her interaction with Alexander.
“Looking back now, I don’t see comedy,” she continued. “I see a 17-year-old girl whose body became part of an adult joke.”
Alexander’s representatives haven’t responded to a request for comment.
Stodden says she now wonders: “I can’t change what happened to me but I can ask myself: How did so many adults look at a minor and decide this was acceptable?”
