A man accused of breaking into a woman’s apartment was shot and killed by Fort Worth police Sunday morning, authorities said.
Officers were called to the apartment complex in west Fort Worth at 6:15 a.m. regarding a domestic disturbance, Fort Worth police said in a news release.
Details from the call revealed a man apparently broke through the front door of an apartment with a woman inside. Police said the man was armed with a knife and was in a verbal and physical fight with the woman.
Officers found the man holding a knife to his throat in the apartment complex parking lot when they arrived, police said. Officers commanded the man to drop the knife, but he refused, police said. The man continued walking toward officers with the knife when he was shot by at least one officer, police said.
The unidentified man was taken to a hospital where he later died. Police said there were no other injuries in relation to the shooting. Investigators did not immediately provide a motive or say if the two knew each other.
Fort Worth police were involved in another officer-involved shooting less than 24 hours earlier. On Saturday, after 8 p.m., officers fatally shot a suspect wanted on an outstanding felony warrant, according to a news release from police.
The individual was wanted for allegedly tampering with an ankle monitor, police said. Officers briefly pursued the suspect’s vehicle until they drove into a parking lot near the 100 block of Palette Drive.
Officers stopped and approached the suspect’s vehicle while giving them verbal commands, police said. The suspect then pulled out “what officers believed to be a gun,” and officers shot the suspect, police said.
The unidentified suspect was provided medical aid but died at the scene, police said.
