With the upcoming Labor Day holiday, North Texans are getting ready for a long weekend and a chance to celebrate. However, some D-FW residents may be wondering: When are the remaining 2026 holidays?
Labor Day is observed on the first Monday in September, which means this year, it will take place Monday, Sept. 7.
The federal holiday is a celebration of the American labor movement and the contributions workers have made to the country, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
Several Texas state holidays remain in 2026 as well, including Lyndon B. Johnson Day on Thursday, Aug. 27. State offices will have skeleton crews, meaning they must have enough employees on duty to conduct business.
This year, Halloween will fall on Saturday, Oct. 31. Día de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, will be celebrated from midnight on Oct. 31 to Nov. 2.
Some North Texans may celebrate Diwali on Nov. 8 during the holiday’s five-day festival, or Bodhi Day, which is a Buddhist holiday celebrated Dec. 8.
Other holidays this year include the day after Thanksgiving on Nov. 27, and Hanukkah, which starts Dec. 4 and runs through Dec. 12.
Kwanzaa, which is a weeklong celebration of African American culture, will begin Dec. 26 and end Jan. 1, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.
