One person was found dead Friday after a fire broke out in a detached garage used as living quarters in Cockrell Hill, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.

Firefighters were dispatched about 11:44 a.m. to the property at 3715 Clarendon, where the garage was located behind the main home.

Arriving crews entered the burning structure and extinguished the flames, Dallas Fire-Rescue said. One person was found dead inside.

The person’s identity was not immediately released. The medical examiner was called to the scene.

Dallas Fire-Rescue automatically responds to fire and medical emergencies in Cockrell Hill under an agreement between the two cities.

The scene was turned over to Cockrell Hill authorities. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
