Rod Stewart is cutting short his farewell tour after undergoing a coronary stent procedure.
The 81-year-old crooner cancelled several shows during his “One More Time” tour including Tuesday’s scheduled performance in Cleveland and Sunday’s gig in Cincinnati. He was next slated to appear at the Iowa State Fair.
According to the “Forever Young” singer’s publicist, fans haven’t heard the last from Stewart. His surgery is said to have been a success that has allowed him to resume daily activities.
“On the advice of his doctors, he will take the next four weeks to recuperate and regain full fitness before returning to the stage,” a statement reads.
Stewart’s current tour was scheduled to end Sept. 3 in Mexico.
The Grammy Award winner also released a statement assuring supporters he’s on the mend.
“I’m deeply disappointed to miss these shows and sorry to let my fans down, but I look forward to getting back on stage and having a good time with you all again soon,” Stewart said.
The two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee — who’s been honored for his work as a solo artist and a member of Faces — is known for belting out ballads and rock numbers through an unmistake gravelly voice.
Stewart was knighted in October 2016. His last performance in New York was a July 31 show at Northwell at Jones Beach Theater.
