A man was killed on Ortega Highway in San Juan Capistrano when he was hit by a vehicle, whose driver fled, early Monday morning, Aug. 17, authorities said.
Orange County sheriff’s deputies were flagged down to an injured man in the roadway near La Novia Avenue about 12:30 a.m., Sgt. Gerard McCann said.
The crash occurred near St. Margaret’s Episcopal School and about a half-mile east of the 5 Freeway.
The man died at the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the crash was not yet disclosed. The man’s identity was not released pending notification of his relatives.
