A 46-year-old man was arrested Sunday night, Aug. 23 on suspicion of stabbing another man at a park-and-ride lot in Fullerton earlier that day, authorities said.
The Fullerton resident was taken into custody just after 7:30 p.m. and booked into jail on suspicion of attempted murder, Fullerton police spokeswoman Kristy Wells said.
Police believe the suspect and the victim were at least acquaintances and at the Orange County Transportation Authority’s lot in the 3000 block of West Orangethorpe Avenue when Torres allegedly stabbed the victim just before 10:40 a.m., Wells said.
What led to the stabbing was not known.
An Orange County sheriff’s deputy was flagged down, called Fullerton police and was helping the victim when police officers arrived, Wells said.
The victim suffered at least one stab wound to the upper body and remained in critical condition at a hospital, Wells said.
The suspect ran away but was taken into custody hours later, Wells said. How he was found was not disclosed.
The parking lot is west of Magnolia Avenue and just north of the interchange of the 91 and 5 freeways.
