Brooklyn man dies after getting punched by opponent during argument

A Brooklyn man died after getting punched in the face and then striking his head on the pavement in front of his apartment building early Friday, and the slugger remains on the loose, police said.

The 42-year-old victim, identified as Florencio Ramos Martinez, was outside his building on Grattan St. near Varick Ave. in Bushwick when he got into an argument with another man about 3:40 a.m., cops said.

As their squabble escalated, Ramos Martinez’ opponent slugged him in the face. The blow sent him reeling back onto the pavement, where he struck his head, police sources said.

It was not immediately clear if the pair knew one another or what they had been arguing about, cops said.

Officers responded to the scene where they discovered Ramos Martinez lying unconscious and unresponsive on Grattan St.

Medics brought the victim to Elmhurst Hospital, where he died a short time later.

No arrests had been made.

Cops were scouring the area looking for surveillance footage to track the assailant’s escape.
