A 49-year-old man was left clinging to life with a stab wound following an attack outside a Queens nightclub early Thursday morning, police said.
The victim had just stepped outside of Club Evolution on Roosevelt Ave. near 77th St. in Jackson Heights when he was stabbed in the left torso around 4:02 a.m., police said.
Medics rushed the victim to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition.
The attacker fled in a black sedan that was last seen heading westbound on Roosevelt Ave., cops said.
The attack occurred along a stretch of Roosevelt Ave. notorious as a hot spot for prostitution, drug trafficking and criminal activity.
“We are frustrated with the half measures that have occurred here on Roosevelt Avenue. It is a very dangerous place, and people are afraid to walk on this Avenue,” said Rosa Sanchez, a member of the Restore Roosevelt Avenue coalition.
In 2024, Mayor Adams announced the creation of a multi-agency task force aimed at eliminating vice along the corridor, which resulted in raids on brothels and alleged sex-trafficking operations located on Roosevelt Ave.
The crackdown spurred sex workers and their supporters to rally in opposition to the law enforcement blitz, demanding the city instead invest in community-based programs to support sex workers and street vendors.
“These so-called quality-of-life operations target sex workers, street vendors and migrant communities who live in this neighborhood,” Maxima Rodas, a member of Make the Road New York’s Trans Immigrant project, said at the time. “This is a racist and anti-immigrant attack on our communities.”
