Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Grohl and Vince Staples are coming together in Los Angeles next month to help celebrate 25 years of the Silverlake Conservatory of Music.
The musicians will perform at a benefit concert at the Hollywood Palladium on Saturday, Oct. 17, with comedian Marc Maron also set to appear. Proceeds from the event will support the nonprofit music school and its programs.
Tickets will first become available through a presale on Thursday, Sept. 24, followed by the general onsale at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Ticketmaster.com. VIP packages and sponsorship opportunities will also be available through the Silverlake Conservatory of Music.
Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea co-founded the Silverlake Conservatory of Music with musician Keith “Tree” Barry and Peter Weiss in 2001, with a focus on providing music education as arts programs faced cuts in Los Angeles public schools.
The conservatory now serves more than 1,000 students each week through private lessons, ensembles and choir programs. Its scholarship program provides more than 200 students with free lessons, instruments, supplies and ensemble classes for families who otherwise might not be able to afford them.
The 25th anniversary marks a larger-scale approach to the school’s annual fundraising efforts. Previous benefits have included performances from artists such as Beck, Neil Young, Eddie Vedder, Patti Smith, Bruno Mars and Red Hot Chili Peppers. This year’s Hollywood Palladium concert is expected to raise about $1.5 million for the conservatory’s programming.
