A Brooklyn man was arrested after he went off on a racist, expletive-laden rant while being escorted off a Delta airlines plane just prior to its takeoff from John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City, video shows.
Port Authority police at JFK responded on Thursday to reports of an unruly passenger — who was also apparently intoxicated at the time — causing a disturbance aboard Delta Flight 2342 as it prepared to depart for Atlanta. The passenger, identified as 60-year-old Jerome Anixter, was subsequently removed from the plane around 2 p.m., and charged with assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration, authorities said.
The flight, which had 160 passengers and six crew members onboard, took off some 45 minutes behind schedule.
Video circulating online shows the moment a passenger is booted from a Delta plane. While it has not yet been confirmed that the man in the clip is Anixter, the details of the incident appear to line up.
At one point, he pretends to shoot other passengers, shouting out “Pow, pow, pow,” as he uses his imaginary gun.
“Can you believe these mother f—kers?!” he shouts as he is being escorted from the aircraft by Port Authority police officers.
The man, who is all smiles in the moment, can also be heard saying the “N-word” at least twice in the clip, which ends with other passengers applauding his removal.
“Delta has zero tolerance for disruptive behavior, and we thank law enforcement for their assistance in removing this unruly customer,” a spokesperson for the airline said in a statement to the Daily News.
“We apologize to the customers on Delta flight DL2342 for this experience and any delay in their travels.”
