A suspected drunk driver has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run fatality in Garden Grove, authorities said Saturday, after a witness followed the vehicle until it was stopped by police.
A witness called police about 11:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23 to report seeing a vehicle versus pedestrian crash at the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Palm Avenue, Garden Grove police Sgt. Thomas Capps said.
“The vehicle was described as a white Cadillac SRX, which failed to stop at the collision,” according to a news release. “The witness followed the vehicle until it was ultimately stopped by Garden Grove officers.”
Paramedics rushed the pedestrian, a 69-year-old woman, to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
“The driver was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, and impairment is believed to have been a contributing factor in this collision,” the release said.
Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to call the Garden Grove Police Department at 714-741-5230.
