Man who worked as South Jersey pre-kindergarten aide charged again with sex assault, making child porn

A man who worked as a pre-kindergarten teacher’s aide has been charged again with aggravated sexual assault and manufacturing child pornography, Cape May Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland announced Friday.

Shaun M. Stebbins, 44, of Somers Point, had already been charged earlier this year by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office with sexually assaulting young children and making child sexual abuse material.

That case covers four alleged victims who are siblings, a family member of the victims who asked not to be identified said in April. The alleged abuse started with one child who was 5 years old at the time. The siblings are now in their teens and early 20s.

On Friday, Sutherland said his office had been notified by Atlantic County authorities that they found evidence that crimes also occurred in Cape May County.

“The search of Shaun Stebbins’ devices revealed numerous images and videos of students from the Woodbine Elementary School in Cape May County. Shaun Stebbins was employed at Woodbine Elementary School as a teacher’s aide from February of 2022 to the date of his arrest in Atlantic County on March 29, 2026,” Sutherland’s office said.

On Friday, Stebbins was charged in the new case with 29 counts of manufacturing pornography, five counts of aggravated sexual assault, and related offenses. He remained in custody at the Atlantic County Correctional Facility.

A spokesperson for the Woodbine School District could not be reached for comment.

NJ.com reported in April that Adrienne Breitinger, the superintendent of the Woodbine School District, sent a letter to parents confirming that Stebbins was employed through a staffing company that provides workers for the district.

Breitinger said the district immediately requested a replacement after learning about Stebbins’ first arrest.

“The safety and well-being of our students remain our highest priority,” Breitinger said in the letter.

“Children are among our most vulnerable population and we have a responsibility to protect their safety and well-being. Anyone who harms a child will be held accountable through our justice system,” Sutherland said in a statement.
