Two men were shot, one fatally, early Monday during a gathering at a Fort Worth apartment, police said.

Officers arrived at the apartment complex in the 500 block of Cabral Circle around 3 a.m. and after speaking with witnesses, determined a man fired a gun into a crowd of people in an apartment and was killed when someone fired back.

According to police, the man knew at least one person at the gathering.

Police said it’s possible the person who was initially shot returned fire.

One person was taken to a hospitalwith a gunshot wound and is in stable condition, according to police.

Detectives are interviewing witnesses to gather additional information about the shooting. Police said the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office will identify the man who died.
