San Juan Capistrano’s annual celebration of the return of the migrating swallows will be capped off this weekend with the Swallows Day Parade.

Now in its 66th year, the parade will launch at El Camino Real and travel Ortega Highway to Del Obispo and loop around down to Camino Capistrano, where it will end after La Zanja.

While the parade travels the city’s streets, it does not include vehicles. Entries are either foot-powered or horse-drawn. There are marching bands, equestrian groups, floats, community groups and more that will be featured.

Following the parade, the celebration continues with the Mercado Street Faire in the area of Historic Town Center Park. The fair will have shopping, lots of food to eat, a kids’ play zone, music and dancing and more.
