A 40-year-old man was shot to death around the corner from his Brooklyn home Monday morning, police said.
Edwin Guevarez was shot in the upper body and right leg on Wortman Ave. near Ashford St. in East New York at about 9:10 a.m., police said.
Guevarez, who was just around the corner from his home when shot, was rushed by medics to Brookdale University Hospital but could not be saved.
The killer fled the scene and has not been caught.
A shell casing was recovered by cops on the sidewalk in a pool of the victim’s blood, suggesting the shooter fired at close range.
Guevarez had been arrested more than 20 times over the course of at least a decade, cops said, most recently in September for drug possession with intent to sell. He was due back in Brooklyn Criminal Court in May in that latest case.
