Aubrey Plaza is starting a family.
Just over a year after the suicide death of her husband, Jeff Baena, the “White Lotus” star is expecting her first child with her partner, Christopher Abbott, her rep confirmed to People. The baby is apparently due later this year, in the fall.
“It was a beautiful surprise after an emotional year,” a source told the magazine, adding that “they feel very blessed.”
Plaza and Abbott have worked together several times over the years, reportedly meeting on the set of the 2020 film, “Black Bear.” They also appeared together in the off-Broadway revival of “Danny and the Deep Blue Sea” in 2023. Abbott is currently starring on Broadway in the revival of Arthur Miller’s “Death of a Salesman” opposite Nathan Lane and Laurie Metcalf.

In January 2025, 41-year-old Plaza was struck by tragedy when her husband was found dead by suicide inside his Los Angeles home. While the couple has quietly separated months prior after three years of marriage, Plaza was open about how much she struggled with grief in wake of his death.
“Overall, I’m here and I’m functioning,” she shared on former co-star Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast in August. “I feel really grateful to be moving through the world. I think I’m OK, but it’s a daily struggle, obviously.”
Plaza began dating the filmmaker in 2011, and they worked together on several projects including films like 2014’s “Life After Beth” and 2017’s “The Little Hours.”
