Kicking off with an opening event on Saturday, Sept. 19, North Figueroa Bookshop in Highland Park and Unnamed Press are presenting “Slow Stories: Paintings by Bette A. and Brian Eno.”
Featuring hundreds of artworks lining the walls of the bookstore, the exhibition includes 444 original signed and numbered paintings as well as listening stations to hear “2 Slow Stories,” which features Bette reading “The Endless House” and “The Other Village” and ambient compositions by Eno (who, you’ll remember, invented the genre with 1978’s “Ambient 1: Music for Airports”).

The duo, who previously collaborated on the book “What Art Does,” will not be in attendance at the opening. As for the work on sale, each $444 Complete Edition includes a signed and numbered painting; a limited edition white-vinyl pressing of “2 Slow Stories” and a hardcover edition of “Slow Stories” by Bette A.
“This is a multimedia piece of collaborative art, centered around storytelling. Bette’s stories are modern fables concerned with the most crucial of themes, and so we extend out from the text, to the record, to the canvas, jumping across media to hopefully connect further with audiences, and deepen the experience of storytelling,” says Chris Heiser, publisher of Unnamed Press.
