Cops arrest woman for kidnap attempt of 4-year-old boy on Brooklyn street

Cops arrested the woman who tried to snatch a 4-year-old boy off the street in front of his grandma outside a McDonald’s in Brooklyn, cops said Saturday.

Chrissy Payne, 47, was charged on Friday with attempted kidnapping and endangering the welfare of a child for taking the boy and dragging him across the street around 5 p.m. Monday, according to police. The child was standing with his grandmother outside the fast-food restaurant on Eastern Parkway near Utica Ave. in Crown Heights.

Another family member stopped the woman from taking the boy and the woman ran off south on Utica Ave., cops said.

Payne has five prior arrests, all in 2026, involving assault and petit larceny.

The NYPD released surveillance footage Thursday of Payne wearing a white shirt, black shorts and black sandals in hopes someone would recognize her.

Payne lives in Brooklyn, cops said. Her arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court was pending on Saturday.
