Doesn’t it seem that this year there are a lot more Brea neighborhoods decked out for Halloween?
Something very popular around town is what looks like an invasion of skeletons hanging all over a house and yard. My favorites are the ones I’ve seen dangling from a balcony or roof’s edge. Or maybe your house has a hoard of pumpkins or floaty white ghosts. They all look ready for trick-or-treaters on Halloween.
Discover trunk-or-treat fun from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Christ Lutheran Church, 820 W. Imperial Highway. Come in your costume and be ready for loads of games, contests, a photo booth, DJ and trick-or-treating from trunk to trunk. Everyone is welcome, and to host a trunk go to Christbrea.org/trunkortreat.
Halloween happenings also start Oct. 30 at Brea Mall’s Boo Bash. From 4 to 6 pm in the Center Court, kids can get their faces painted, do crafts and enjoy Halloween stories from the Brea Library plus lots of giveaways and plenty of fun.
Return noon to 2 p.m. on Halloween for trick-or-treating throughout the mall. Wear your coolest or ghoulish costume, but no masks allowed.
Brea Downtown is really geared up for Halloween fun with two exciting events.
One is its very first Halloween costume contest for Best Pet Costume, Best Kid Costume and Most Creative Costume, but hurry. No, you don’t just show up on Halloween dressed like Dracula to enter. Instead, you, your kids and your dog get dressed in your costumes and head to Brea Downtown any time before the Oct. 31 deadline. While there, have someone snap your photo, maybe in front of one of the Halloween decorations or other spots, then email it to service@breadowntown.com or tag@BreaDowntown.
Just make sure you send it in by Oct. 31.
The three winners will be announced on Nov. 2 and each presented with a gift card to a downtown business.
Now, I wonder if Rover wins, does he get a juicy bone, maybe from Old Brea Chop House? Just a thought.
Brea Downtown’s Halloween fun doesn’t end with the costume contest. On Halloween night, from 5 to 7 p.m. take the kids for Treats on the Street from many of the merchants.
Of course, also expect trick-or-treaters in your neighborhood on Halloween night. Just be sure to have plenty of candy, the porch light on and maybe some scary music.
After Halloween, it is time for Dine Brea Week, Nov. 2-8. Enjoy special menus and discounts at participating restaurants when you ask for their Dine Brea promotions.
The Dine Week Brea participating restaurants are: North Italia, Our Nest, Green Tomato Grill, Crepes de Paris, Chick-fil-A, and Jack-in-the-Box. Something for just about everyone’s taste.
We are very fortunate in Brea to have a wealth of dining spots, and many more coming. Can’t wait for Benihana’s to finally open in Brea Downtown, and for another restaurant to replace the Outback Steakhouse that was at 30 Pointe Drive, off of Lambert Road.
This time of year sets the pace for the coming holiday season. Start it off by enjoying all the Halloween fun and continuing it with Dine Week Brea.
