The ex-boyfriend of a woman shot to death in Harlem just before Christmas was arrested for her murder Wednesday, police said.

The family of 47-year-old victim Basilisa Negron immediately suspected her ex, Eliud Garcia, 50, was behind her Dec. 23 killing — but waited three months for justice.

“He should rot in hell,” Negron’s son, 28-year-old Richie Negron, told the Daily News. “At the very least, he should get the maximum.”

Garcia was taken into custody in the Bronx, where he lives, Wednesday by an NYPD warrant squad and charged with murder, assault and gun possession, police said.

“He was a selfish, violent man. Not only is he a criminal, he’s a murderer. He took my mother from our family,” the victim’s son said. “I’m happy he was caught.”

He allegedly shot Negron on the afternoon of Dec. 23. The suspect is the father of three of the victim’s seven children.

Negron had broken up with the suspect two months earlier and moved into her youngest daughter’s apartment on W. 141st St. near Malcolm X Blvd., where Negron was confronted in the bathroom and shot three times.

She was killed after returning home from a quick trip to the store, with investigators suspecting the gunman slipped in through a door she left unlocked while briefly out.

“My mom was asking for help for the longest time, filing police reports and everything. Nothing happened,” the victim’s son said. “We want justice.”

Negron’s daughter later came home and found her dead.

The murder tore Negron’s family apart.

Negron’s brother hadn’t seen the victim for about a year, but she had planned to visit him in Pennsylvania soon.

“She was gonna come to my house after Christmas,” the brother, Jay Romero, 44, said after her slaying.

Negron, who had four granddaughters, “wanted the best for her kids, her grandkids, for the whole family,” a sister-in-law said in December.
