A former Wylie East assistant principal was arrested Thursday after Wylie police said he offered to buy alcohol for a minor and send money for lingerie in exchange for sexual conduct.
Zachary Neu, 32, of Richardson, was arrested about 11:25 a.m. on a charge of compelling prostitution under age 18, according to the department.
Police said the arrest followed an investigation by the department’s Criminal Investigations Division, which began after authorities received a report that Neu was communicating inappropriately with a recent 2026 Wylie East graduate. Investigators said the graduate was a minor at the time of the communications.
Neu’s employment with Wylie ISD ended the day of his arrest, according to April Cunningham, the district’s chief communications officer.
Neu had been with the district since August 2017, when he was hired as a science teacher. He was promoted to dean of students in July 2024 and had served as an assistant principal since January 2026.
In a letter sent to Wylie East families and staff, Superintendent Kim Spicer described the situation as “serious and deeply concerning.”
“Educators hold positions of authority and are entrusted with tremendous responsibility,” Spicer wrote. “The fact that a student has graduated does not absolve an educator of their responsibility to act professionally and uphold the trust placed in them by students, families, and the community.”
Spicer noted that the district contacted Child Protective Services and the State Board for Educator Certification as soon as they were made aware of the allegations and has been fully cooperating with law enforcement.
“Under no circumstances should a district employee engage in private communication with a student through personal social media or other unofficial channels,” Spicer said. “Electronic communication between students and staff should occur only through official district platforms.”
No additional victims are known at this time, according to police. The department urged anyone with concerns about interactions with Neu to contact the Wylie Police Department directly.
Police said Wylie ISD cooperated with the investigation and notified Wylie East parents once authorities determined it was safe to do so.
The Wylie Police Department and Wylie ISD said allegations involving student safety and staff misconduct are taken seriously and investigated when reported. Police also encouraged parents to speak with their children about appropriate communication with adults and how to report interactions that make them uncomfortable.
