A Fort Worth man was arrested Thursday after police found his wife and mother-in-law fatally shot inside an Azle home, authorities said.

Azle police and firefighters were dispatched about 9:30 a.m. to a report of a suspicious situation in the 200 block of Stewart Bend Court, northwest of Fort Worth.

Officers entered the home to check on the occupants and found two adult women dead from apparent gunshot wounds, according to the Azle Police Department. Police described the victims as a mother and daughter but did not release their names.

Investigators identified Joseph Gordon of Fort Worth as the suspect using evidence collected at the home and information from automated license plate-reading cameras, police said.

Texas Rangers took Gordon into custody. He was being processed Thursday at the Parker Countyjail on two counts of capital murder, according to police.

Authorities did not disclose where Gordon was arrested, what led officers to the home or a possible motive.

Azle police are investigating with assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers.
