Fort Worth police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead late Tuesday night, according to a statement.
Officers were called to John Peter Smith Hospital in the 1500 block of South Main Street about 11:50 p.m. regarding a patient involved in a shooting.
Once there, police found a man in the emergency room who had sustained at least two gunshot wounds to his torso, according to the statement.
The man died despite life-saving measures performed by hospital staff.
Investigators determined the man was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle and are working to determine where the shooting occurred by interviewing the witnesses who drove him, the statement said.
Fort Worth police homicide detectives are leading the investigation.
No further information about the shooting was immediately available.
