Looking for a way to celebrate the Fourth of July before the weekend? Several North Tarrant County cities are kicking off the weekend Wednesday with what organizers say is the largest Independence Day drone show in Texas.

The free event, hosted by the North Tarrant Chamber of Commerce, will include a 2,500-drone show, fireworks, live music, food trucks and family-friendly activities, according to a chamber news release.

The aerial drone show begins at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and viewable from several nearby parking lots, including:

Jack Bradshaw, the chamber’s president and CEO, said in an email that the annual event is being held on July 1 instead of the usual July 3 date because participating cities are helping with the FIFA World Cup match scheduled for July 3.

The celebration is held in partnership between the cities of North Richland Hills, Haltom City, Richland Hills and Watauga, according to the release.

Parking is free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Street parking for the event will not be permitted, the release said.

Festivities will begin at 5 p.m. at BISD Plaza and also includes bounce houses, a corndog eating contest, a patriotic salute to veterans and a performance by the Texas Jazz All Stars, according to the release.

A parking map and list of food vendors can be found on the chamber’s website or at netarrant.org.
