Julie Andrews, who is very much alive, was thought dead by many on Instagram Wednesday, who are now slamming Disney and Disney+ for a promotional post they mistook as a tribute to the beloved screen icon.
The 90-year-old Oscar-winning “Mary Poppins” star, whose House of Mouse legacy started in 1964 and continues with “Princess Diaries” fans, is the subject of an upcoming documentary hitting the streamer next year.
But those merely scrolling Instagram were faced with a jump scare when they saw a portrait of the “Sound of Music” star dressed in beige and gold, captioned — at least to start — “Courage, resilience, grace.”
Upon expanding the caption, one would exhale a sigh of relief, as the joint post — also shared by Andrews herself — concludes, “The definitive documentary on the legendary Julie Andrews is coming to Disney+ in 2027.”
Relieved though the comments section was, those who panicked had words for Disney and co.
“Stopppp I thought the worse LOL,” said nostalgia account Doyoulovethe2000s.
“Please don’t scare me like that again,” said the outlet Bustle.
“I almost threw up y’all why did you pick the most heavenly-looking photo for this announcement?” said artist Danielle Coke Balfour, with whom over 6,000 agreed.
“Now why would you do that I thought she was dead,” remarked user Luxx.tati, whose comment racked up almost 9,500 likes.
Speaking to the Daily News in late 2020, Andrews said her storied career — which also included Academy-nominated roles in “The Sound of Music” and “Victor/Victoria” — “was not all glamour.”
