Officers responded to reports of a shooting shortly before 3 a.m. in the 2700 block of McKinney Avenue.
Investigators determined Jeronimo Avila, 35, was shot by an unknown suspect who then fled the scene.
Avila was transported to hospital where he later died, police said. No arrests have been made as of Sunday night.
