Man, 74, crossing Manhattan’s FDR Drive fatally struck by two drivers

A 74-year-old man died after he was struck by two drivers as he tried to cross Manhattan’s FDR Drive, police said Thursday.

Derek Coker was crossing near the E. Houston St. exit in the East Village when he was struck in the northbound left lane by a black Chevrolet sedan operated by a 55-year-old man about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, cops said.

The victim was thrown into the center lane, where he was struck by a silver Mitsubishi driven by a 55-year-old woman.

Medics rushed Coker to Bellevue Hospital but he could not be saved. The victim lived in Queens, according to cops.

Surveillance video recovered by cops shows Coker climbing over a divider before trying to cross the highway, a police source said

The two drivers remained at the scene and faced no immediate charges.
