A man arrested for beating two men with a pipe in Queens more than two months ago has been charged with murder following the death of one of his victims, police said Wednesday.
Eon Marques, 48, allegedly struck a 39-year-old man in the head and beat a 43-year-old man about the body with the pipe near 90th Ave. and 149th St. in Jamaica shortly before 12 a.m. on August 18, according to police.
Medics rushed both victims to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where the 39-year-old was initially listed in critical condition, but later died of his injuries. Police could not immediately provide an exact date for the death.
His name was not immediately released.
The 43-year-old victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and released, cops said.
After delivering the beating, Marques ran off down 150th St., but was arrested later that day, according to court records. He was initially charged with attempted murder and has been incarcerated at Rikers Island since Aug. 20, records show.
The charges were upgraded to murder after the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the younger victim’s death a homicide.
A motive for the beating was not immediately released.
Marques lives in Brooklyn, according to cops.
