Police arrested an 18-year-old after he allegedly ran over a teenager in West Dallas with a vehicle and killed him last Sunday following a fight.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting about 3:36 a.m. in the 300 block of Singleton Boulevard, according to a Thursday statement.

Once there, investigators determined a man struck Garyk Rodriguez-Escobar, 17, with a vehicle after a fight between him and multiple others.

Police said Rodriguez-Escobar, 17, was transported to the hospital, where he later died.

An 18-year-old was booked into the Dallas County jail on July 29 and faces a charge of aggravated assault with a weapon causing brain injury or paralysis, according to jail records. As of Thursday, his bail is set at $300,000.

Police said the charge is currently being upgraded to murder. The facts and circumstances of the killing remain under investigation.
