A 22-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for removing the license plate from his wrecked car and running off following a wild crash in Brooklyn that left a Lyft driver dead and a woman seriously injured, cops said.
Sobirjon Abdurazakov was charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, assault, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and reckless endangerment, in addition to a speeding violation for the deadly crash that killed 62-year-old Yaya Dia on Oct. 5, police said.
Abdurazakov was speeding south on Ocean Parkway in a 2026 Audi A5 when he rear-ended the 2023 Toyota Camry driven by Dia near Avenue S in Midwood around 12:10 a.m., cops said.
The impact caused the Camry to spin around, slamming into the back of a southbound 2021 Toyota RAV4. The hit-and-run driver’s vehicle and the Camry both jumped the curb and crashed into a tree.
Medics rushed Dia to Maimonides Medical Center, where he died.
His rear-seat passenger, a 39-year-old woman, suffered severe neck and back injuries. She was taken to the same hospital in critical condition.
The 25-year-old man driving the RAV4 was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The Audi driver ran off with his car’s license plates, leaving the wrecked luxury car behind.
Abdurazakov has no criminal record prior to his arrest Tuesday. He is awaiting arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court.
