A man has been arrested for raping a 12-year-old girl in her family’s Bronx apartment, police said Wednesday.
Jose Ramos allegedly attacked the child inside her home near W. 174th St. and Montgomery Ave. in Morris Heights about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, cops said.
Ramos, 34, and his victim are not related, according to a police source. The child’s father stepped in on the attack when he came home, grabbed Ramos and called 911, the source said.
It was not immediately clear how Ramos, who lives about four blocks away, ended up in the victim’s apartment.
The child was taken to an area hospital for evaluation, police said.
Cops charged Ramos with rape and endangering the welfare of a child. His arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court was pending Wednesday.
