“Love is Blind” is finally casting in New York City, allowing Tri-state area singles to try their hand at happily ever after… sight unseen.
Kinetic Content announced on Instagram this week that it’s casting for six cities, Gotham among them, for the Netflix hit, which debuted in 2020 and has captivated social media’s attention with every season since.
“Looking for love? Great! Willing to propose to a wall before seeing their face? Even better!” reads the caption, in part. “If you’re single, tired of dating apps, and ready to prove that love is actually blind, your pod is waiting!!!”
The show, which now boasts many an international spinoff, features romantic prospects getting to know each other in “pods” separated by a wall. Only should they fall in love and get engaged through the wall — usually while remaining vague about their looks — can they meet face to face. They then have a matter of weeks to cohabitate before their televised wedding.
In the interim, there’s a vacation with the other engaged couples, which often serves as the first time they’re meeting other people they’d fallen for in the pods. Tensions reliably ensue.
The application, linked in the bio on Kinetic’s Instagram, spans roughly 70 questions, including the basics to determine whether the hopeful is single, ready for a long-term relationship, willing to date someone divorced, and which dating apps are they currently using (and being disappointed by).
There are also more introspective queries, like “Why do you think you are single?” and “What is something you wish your past romantic partners appreciated about you?”
“Love is Blind” is also known for its many controversies and lawsuits, including claims of “inhumane working conditions,” “traumatic” experiences on the series and a lack of proper mental health support on set.
