An NYPD police officer was injured Thursday trying to apprehend a suspect wanted for assault when the man threw an object that struck the officer in the head at a Bronx subway station, cops said.

The cop suffered a minor laceration after he was hit by an unknown object at the Fordham Road subway station near E. 188th St. in Fordham around 5:24 p.m., according to law enforcement officials.

The officer was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

The suspect, a 41-year-old man, was wanted for an assault that occurred more than two miles away at E. 167th St. and Gerard Ave. in Concourse shortly after noon, police said

After striking the officer in the head, the subject fled on foot, cops said. He remained at large Thursday night.
