Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. is voluntarily recalling Texas-produced white shell eggs and brown cage-free shell eggs.
The eggs were distributed from farms between June 6 and July 3, with sell-by or best-by dates between July 20 and August 17, according to the FDA.
They were shipped to Kroger stores in Texas and Louisiana and Brookshire Grocery stores in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Mississippi, along with other small retail outlets.
According to the FDA, no other Midwest Poultry products are part of the recall. The company identified the salmonella risk through “proactive environmental monitoring processes and root cause analysis.”
The FDA urges consumers who purchased the contaminated eggs to avoid eating them and return them to where they were purchased it from for a refund.
