An ex-con out on parole was arrested for shoving an elderly woman onto the tracks inside a Manhattan subway station, cops said Tuesday.
Zaki Smith, 36, was nabbed Monday about 5:30 p.m. and charged with attempted murder, felony assault and misdemeanor assault for the brazen attack, which left the 70-year-old victim with a gash on her head.
His arraignment in Manhattan criminal court was pending Tuesday afternoon.
The septuagenarian was standing on the northbound platform around 11:26 a.m. inside the 57th St.-Seventh Ave. train station in Midtown when Smith came up from behind and pushed her onto the train tracks.
Nearby bystanders helped the woman back up onto the platform before a train arrived.
EMS transported the victim to Weill Cornell Medical Center where she was in stable condition.
Smith was out on parole after serving three and a half years in prison for an assault conviction, according to Department of Corrections and Community Supervision records. His post-release supervision was set to finish in May 2030.
The ex-con has racked up 14 prior arrests, including for robbing an MTA worker in 2025 and for criminal sale of a controlled substance.
His last known address is a homeless shelter in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, cops said.
Most recently, Smith was arrested for burglary on June 16 after stealing cleaning solutions from a residential building in Chelsea, which he snuck into through a service entrance, cops said.
Smith didn’t show up to his court date following his release at the initial arraignment on the burglary charge and had an active bench warrant out for his arrest when he was arrested for the shoving, according to cops and court records.
